‘In this first episode, the Executive Librarian of The Magic Circle Peter Lane joins host Matt Duggan in the studio to find out where the art of magic began. We journey back to ancient Egypt and the first recorded performance of a magician in the court of the Pharoah Cheops. We also trace the history of those things that are now synonymous with magicians; the white rabbit, the magic wand and the top hat and tail coat. There will also be the first episode of our regular Magic News feature, read by Julia Barnett.’

Smoke & Mirrors is, of course, a radio show all about magic, broadcast on Resonance FM. It’s hosted by magician and actor Matt Duggan and each week features a different guest from the world of illusion and prestidigitation (it’s just a posh word for conjuring).
